One of the advantages of a preschool-8th grade school is that, by the time the students graduate, they know their strengths and weaknesses, likes and dislikes and, therefore, play an important role in choosing their high schools. Choosing a high school is a big decision for our families, and Browne Academy has a high school placement program to help our students as they decide on the next step in their secondary education. A high school placement counselor works one-on-one with each student and their family as they navigate the high-school placement process.
The goal of the program is to assist students and their families in finding the best fit for their high school years. Browne hosts information sessions during which families learn about local high schools’ admissions processes, the standardized testing protocol and results, and how Browne Academy supports you throughout this time.
Northern Virginia and the surrounding Washington, D.C. areas are privileged to have a wide range of highly successful secondary schools. Each and every school is different, and their differences are made up of a combination of many factors. These distinguishing factors include, but are not limited to: location, school mission, size, religious affiliation, co-education vs. single sex education, extracurricular activities, athletics, boarding vs. day and technology resources. We understand that this is a lot of information, and we are here to help answer any questions families may have about prospective schools. Throughout the process, we encourage families to talk with each other and create a list of what they are looking for in a high school.
