Browne Academy Places 3rd in State We the People Competition

Browne Academy's 8th graders placed 3rd in the Virginia State We the People competition held Saturday, February 2, at the University of Virginia. Congratulations also to Tim, Andrew, Melanie, and Tassneem for winning the unit award among the school's six groups.

We the People is a national curriculum that focuses on the creation, content, and implementation of the U.S. Constitution. Over the course of several months, students worked in small groups to learn about a specific constitutional issue, prepared a four-minute statement in response to a question, and practiced responding to challenging questions from a panel of judges. Each year, the experience culminates in a simulated congressional hearing. Browne's 2nd place finish in December's regional competition qualified the team for Saturday's state event. Way to go, Bruins!
