Browne Academy Places 2nd at We the People Competition
On December 17, Browne Academy 8th graders placed 2nd in the Central Virginia We the People competition! Our school's top-scoring unit consisted of Sophie, Zoe, Sarah, and Olivia. We the People is a national curriculum that focuses on the creation, content, and implementation of the U.S. Constitution. Over the course of two months, students worked in small groups to learn about a specific constitutional issue, prepared a four-minute statement in response to a question, and practiced responding to challenging questions from a panel of judges. Each year, the experience culminates in a simulated congressional hearing. Our team's performance qualified them for the state We the People competition. Congratulations, 8th grade!
