Offering this for the greater community is one small way that we can live out our core values as a school and support our neighbors. Although we cannot offer our entire curriculum for everyone, we hope that the selected lessons will add to the resources that families can use during this unprecedented time.”

  • Continuity of Education Plan

    Although our campus is closed, the continuation of learning has been the primary focus of our teachers and academic leaders. Without delay, Browne Academy students moved from learning in the classroom to distance learning. On Wednesday, March 18, our teachers enthusiastically took on the challenge of meeting their students’ social, emotional and academic needs from their homes. Since then, we have continued to improve our Continuity of Education plan. The school adopted a hybrid of synchronous and asynchronous learning to meet the developmental needs of our students. We strive to provide opportunities for engaging, meaningful learning for all of our students.
  • Lower School (Preschool-4th Grade) Overview

    We are committed to providing developmentally appropriate instruction and content at every grade level. Browne’s program offers the critical academic skills across the curriculum, enrichment in the special area classes, and the emotional connections that our students need.  In addition to daily instruction from their classroom teachers, Lower School students also have daily time with our talented and dedicated specialist teachers. We value the development of the whole child, so synchronous and asynchronous instruction is available in Spanish, Music, Art, PE, Science, and Information Literacy/ Library.
  • Preschool and Junior Kindergarten Program Details

    Knowing the importance of personal connection and routine at this young age, teachers begin each day in a synchronous meeting with their class. The students join their teachers in the Zoom classroom to sing songs, review calendar math skills, and continue new learning in phonics, writing, math and pre-phonemic skills.  Teachers post assignments and video lessons on the myBrowne portal for students to access and complete with their parents. In order to assess learning and individualize instruction, each student has a weekly individual check in with the classroom teacher. Preschool and Junior Kindergarten students access all learning opportunities through the myBrowne portal and their classroom web pages.
  • Kindergarten-4th Grade Program Details

    Students in these grades are a little more self-sufficient and can manage to read, write and complete short assignments independently. Although there are varying degrees of synchronous and asynchronous learning at each grade level, every grade has a designated synchronous learning opportunity each day. Teachers also record video lessons and post assignments on the class web page through the myBrowne portal. To further support families, teachers hold regular office hours to answer student/parent questions and offer individualized instruction. In addition, the classroom teachers have weekly one-on-one meetings with each student. Lower school students access all learning opportunities through the myBrowne portal and their classroom web pages. Third and fourth grades also the Google platform.
  • Middle School (5th-8th Grades) Program Details

    Every day Middle School students (5th-8th grades) meet synchronously for all core classes: Math, English, Spanish, History and Science. Music and Art meet synchronously two days a week. Advisories meet for 25 minutes first thing every morning to continue the essential work of social-emotional learning before the academic day begins. Teachers and students use Google Classroom, as well as other online platforms, for instruction throughout the year, so moving to online learning was an easy transition.
