Summer camp. It is about making new friends, having new experiences, learning new skills, and most importantly, it’s about plain, old fashioned fun! As stated in our mission, Browne Summer Camp is dedicated to providing a memorable experience for every camper in a safe, fun-filled and caring environment that fosters friendship and mutual respect for one another.
At Browne Summer Camp, your child will have fun…and much, much, more. Our summer program offers an exciting array of age and developmentally appropriate activities that will capture the interest of each camper and keep it, all summer long. From Preschool to Middle School, there is something for every child at Browne Summer Camp.

About the Camp and Its Staff
Browne Summer Camp was established in 1975 as a division of Browne Academy, which has been in operation since 1941. Our campus is located on 11 wooded acres in Alexandria. Our modern, well maintained camp facilities include air conditioned buildings, three large and well equipped playgrounds, an athletic field, a competition size swimming pool, and a new state of the art Center for Athletics and Performing Arts. Rain or shine, there’s plenty to do everyday!
Our well trained staff is prepared for the summer’s programs. Staff members are required to participate in an orientation program and continue training throughout the summer. Counselors receive feedback from the Camp Administration about their performance and help brainstorm new ideas for staff meetings. In addition to the group counselors, we have a staff of certified lifeguards at the pool, trained activity specialists, a Director of Health Services, and a complete office staff during the summer months.
Browne Summer Camp is fully accredited by the American Camping Association (ACA), which requires conformity to strict standards of excellence in the areas of program, site and facilities, personnel, health care, and aquatics. We must also pass inspection by the Commonwealth of Virginia with regards to health, emergency procedures, and licensing.
