How does Fairfax Food Service bring a hot lunch to Browne?

Fairfax Food Service uses a commissary style approach to deliver high quality, nutritious lunches to students. The meals, which are designed with the help of registered dieticians, meet and exceed USDA standards for child nutrition. Food is prepared in their kitchen then sent to the school to set-up and serve to our students buffet style. (Pre-school meals are set up on trays).

What are my child’s daily lunch options?

The lunch menu includes a hot entrée every day (see sample menu attached). There are always at least two servings of fruits and vegetables offered. In addition to the hot entrée, deli sandwiches are available every day which include a variety of breads, deli meats, and cheeses. Daily salad bar options include tossed salad with a variety of dressings, cheese, cut veggies, and specialty deli salads.

What if my child is only interested in vegetarian diet options?

The lunch program offered has many options that can suit a vegetarian diet including the deli/salad bar with various cut veggies, breads, and cheeses. Additionally, the daily hot entrée menu may include non-meat items such as steamed vegetables, potatoes, noodles, or rice for students to choose from.

What if my child has food allergies?

Please see the enclosed sample menu to determine if any items will interfere with your child’s food allergies. Fairfax Food provides an allergy list for parents to use as a resource in determining which menu items your child should avoid. www.ffsfood.com

Can my child enroll part-time?

Students must enroll in the hot lunch program on a full time basis for the entire academic year. There are no refunds for days missed.

What is the cost for the hot lunch program?

The cost of the hot lunch program for the 2009-2010 academic year was:
Pre-school – K: $825.00
Grades 1-4: $950.00
Grades 5-8: $1,000.00
Pricing for the 2010-2011 academic year will be determined and communicated your August 2010 summer mailing.
