There are a variety of ways to get involved at Browne Academy, below are just a few opportunities.

Classroom Representatives

As a Class Rep, your primary role is to serve as a goodwill ambassador to the parents in your grade. You also disseminate pertinent information from the school and the Browne Academy Parents Association (PA) to the parents/guardians of your child’s class and coordinate parent/guardian participation in certain grade-level activities.

Specific activities may include:

  • Welcoming new families
  • Coordination with the classroom teachers and any other parent volunteers for grade-level events/celebrations
  • Managing the Class Activities Funds (to cover the expenses of class celebrations and extra enhancements such as special projects or additional field trips)
  • Determining the Class Auction project

Volunteer Opportunities: Classroom Reps for each grade

Teacher and Faculty Appreciation Events

We have several events planned throughout the year to show our Browne Academy faculty and staff how much we appreciate their time and efforts. This year, we will celebrate with Conference Day Luncheons and Surprise Celebration Treats, as well as with Appreciation Week, which culminates with the Annual Breakfast Event. Thanks to Browne Academy parents, faculty breakfast that day will consist of more than a cup of Joe and cold bagel: Parents donate breakfast foods, gift cards, and their time to allow the faculty to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the morning rush.

Volunteer Opportunities: Setup, donations, carline assistance, breakfast server, playground supervision, cleanup.

Events include:

  • Parent Speaker Series, October 19 and April 7
  • Parent Halloween Social, October 30
  • Parent Mixer, November 7
  • Special Friends Dance, February 19
  • Family Fun Festival and 75th Anniversary Celebration, May 7
  • Volunteer Celebration and Appreciation Event, June 1
  • 2016 Summer Programming (Baseball Game, Picnic, etc.), TBD

Parent Led Fundraisers

Box Top and Loyalty Program

Box Tops and Loyalty Coordinator will collect all the Box Tops from Giant, Safeway, Target, and other loyalty programs and then send them in so Browne Academy can earn cash to purchase books, iPad, or other items. Manage a school-wide contest where the class that submits the most Box Tops earns a “free dress down day”.

Volunteer Opportunities: We are looking for a coordinator to promote the program, collect and submit information for the Box Top program and other loyalty programs. Note. Box checks are mailed to the school twice a year.

Book Fairs (Barnes & Noble, Dec. 6 and On Campus, May 4-6)

The Book Fairs continue to be a huge success! Our children look forward to making wish lists in anticipation of acquiring new and interesting additions to their libraries. Teachers reap the benefits, too, with generous book donations from Browne Academy parents. On December 6 we host a Book Fair at Barnes and Noble before the winter holidays. May 4 - 6 we hold our on-campus Book Fair leading up to Grandparents and Special Friends Visit Day and the Family Fun Festival.

Volunteer Opportunities: Setup, gift wrapping, cashier/checkout, and packaging items to be return to the vendor. Our Browne Academy library is also always in need of parent volunteers.
