Message from Margot Durkin, Head of School
At Browne Academy our core values of Excellence, Diversity, Character and Community are evident everywhere. We believe in the uniqueness of each student and the nurturing of individual talents within a truly supportive environment. Each day at Browne is a day of discovery for children and for teachers alike as they pursue excellence together.
When a child enrolls at Browne, the entire family becomes part of a vibrant school which has been built on a proud tradition and continues as a dynamic place for outstanding education in this young century. You will find a campus that is alive with the sounds of the excitement of learning, the joy of friendship, and the whisper of nature from our woods and creek.
From our exuberant preschoolers through our confident eighth graders, our girls and boys thrive on the Browne experience of a challenging curriculum, dedicated teachers, a safe and child-centered setting, and a permeating spirit of belonging to a special group of young scholars.
Our commitment to excellence continues beyond the classroom as Browne's students enjoy a full complement of field trips, sports and games, music, visual and performing arts, and extracurricular activities. Budding artists and athletes find the guidance and encouragement that inspires dreams.
The 2007-2008 school year is an exciting point in Browne's history. With our new Center for Athletics and the Performing Arts (CAPA) now fully operational, we have found a new home for assemblies, student performances, community gatherings, and graduation. We have expanded on-campus opportunities for both personal challenge and team competition. As the fourth head of this fine school, I can’t think of a more auspicious time to be at Browne.
I invite you to share our values and our spirit. Come and visit us and see what a school can be.
Margot N. Durkin
