Browne Academy received its first formal accreditation in 1978 from the Virginia Association of Independent Schools (VAIS).

The most recent ten-year re-accreditation was successfully completed in the spring of 2008. During the 2012-2013 school year, Browne will welcome an interim accreditation visit.

Browne is an active member of our local association of 86 area independent schools, Independent Education. Our Head of School currently serves as the President of Independent Education.

Browne is also a member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), the Virginia Council for Private Education (VCPE) and one of the seven founding schools of the Emerging Scholars Program (ESP).
